Hi. I am new to this forum and own a 2005 C50T. I installed a highway bar and am now looking to add a rear crash bar similiar to what is on my 2008 Kawasaki Nomad. Has anyone tried to add any crash protection to the rear of the frame of a C50?? It appears that there are aftermarket products out there but they are made for Harleys. Thanks for your help.

Cheers.

There is a company in Germany that sells them. BIG bucks. I have heard that the OEM engine guards can be modified to fit. The frame in the OEM saddlebags saved my ass when I got hit.

Do you have to fill them with cement though?

Actually, you can also fill them with polystyrene which you buy in liquid form and mix with hardener like you do fiberglass. On boats it works like steel in similar strength situations.

You may be correct, but in this situation, protocol calls for cement.

How about cutting them in half, then reinforcing them with a smaller diameter tube and bolting the entire process back together! Best idea ever!

We're both correct but 'screw' protocol. I'll look for good ideas anywhere and anytime. Alternatives to the old traditions are what evolution is all about.
