Exhaust lollipop mod - video

Postby Marcin » May 24th, 2013, 6:17 pm

Hi gents,

My Jardines proved to be still too loud after wrapping so I decided to fabricate lollipops.
Here's the video of it:

Of course my friend... didn't have a chance to record it yet though. Daily job leaves just scraps of time I can use. :x

Cheers Ron,

Music is a royalty free selection bundled with Sony Vegas that I use to post process the videos.
I guess that video wouldn't work if I had Justin Bieber screeching

Anyway,
I've done the sound testing today:

Didn't go without issues (OF COURSE!)
This time the brackets survived...the wing nut didn't
So I had to come back home quickly (thankfully I found the lollipop on the road) and I made a last minute modifications.
I've used longer screws and firstly tightened them up with a normal nut and then added a wing nut on top...all with Locktite.
Being bit annoyed and bit enthusiastic about getting it all working I actually snapped 2 screws in the process, learning that there is a subtle limit to the tightening

All that said, I took it out a second time, tested it up to 70mph and they didn't even squeak...all works perfectly...for now

Sound appears a bit echo-y due to the fact that I had my garage open so it was reverbing a bit.
Well chuffed with the sound on the road...and what a day it was today for a ride...I saw plenty of chopper with riders grinning and waving, all happy that the weather delivered.

Current - wrapped and with new lollipops

For comparison - this one has empty baffles (as I bought them) and wrapped but without lollies.

It's quite amazing, I've gone through 3 iterations of the sound already.
