Bearings

Postby Silverfox » August 4th, 2013, 8:05 am

I think my bearings are going on the steering head. Thanks to Doc I was able to find the part number. [CLAP] [CLAP] [CLAP] . But has anyone bought these from another supplier than the dealer. Just wondering where and what the cost was. And do I have to really buy special tools to replace them. Doesn't look hard just time invested. Thanx in advance........

I have bought a lot of stuff from DK without a problem. Never bought bearings but have bought fork seals and they worked fine. While most of it is not OEM, it is quality stuff.

I don't see any need for any special tools for the bearings, although a puller would make it easier. I usually just use a long screwdriver and a hammer and tap them out, but that would get me in trouble with a wrencher because it's just not right. I just make sure to keep them straight as they are coming out. I use a socket that fits the outside race to tap them back in.

These are not expensive and when I order, I get the stuff delivered about the same time as the tracking starts to work.
