1995 Soft Tail

Want to talk about motorcycles that you own that aren't a C50 or a Volusia? Here's the spot for that.

1995 Soft Tail

Postby Da-Mack » May 4th, 2012, 5:41 am

One of my students has a 1995 Soft Tail that was his dad's. His dad passed away earlier this year. He got his permit and has been riding it to class. It seems to have the idle set way low. It sounds like a John Deere hit and miss engine.

Do any of you know what idle rpm this thing should be set at?

I don't know what it should be set at, but I personally LOVE the sound of an old carbureted Harley gasping for air.. The harder it tries, the better it sounds. ;)

As long as the throttle response is instant and it starts easy, it is set just the way it should be. It can take a lot of money to get them to run that way, and I'm not joking.
