Apes on the Street Glide

Want to talk about motorcycles that you own that aren't a C50 or a Volusia? Here's the spot for that.

Yep, it's true. Doc has some SERIOUS wrenching skills for sure.

I'm not sure I'm up for this mod. I'd probably wind up with a half-ton of motorcyle on top of me!

I'd better check my life insurance before I try it!

Still don't have the clutch cable adjusted where I think it should be. Thinking I have to take the transmission cover off again and check the "ball and ramp" assembly to make sure it's sitting correctly.

Got the clutch sorted out.. Pulled the tranny cover and checked the ball and ramp.. Sure enough.. One of the bearings had slipped into the slot of another bearing. I fixed it and reassembled. Clutch works like a charm now :)

Finally talked with the dealer about this mod today...they said the price for parts alone is $667 and I probably don't want to know how much the labor charge will be!

ABS is not an issue, but apparently I'll have to give up my beloved heated grips? Damn!

No explanation given. The guy was just going by the book, tho. I'm gonna get a second opinion for sure cuz I am really attached to the heated grips!

That sounds odd. Are you running HD grips? If you are and still can't do it, check out heat demons. I'm sure you can with those and they work better.

Yep, currently using HD grips, which will fry your hands anywhere above 2.5 or so on the thermostat! Will definitely check out the heat demons, tho, thanks for the tip!

I'm on my third set of HD heated grips. They were standard on my bike and were replaced under warranty. If they go out again, definitively going with heat demons. A lot of the guys on the CVO site switched to them after their grips kept failing.
